SL -- What to do about LAG!

Lag is a fun killer but here are some simple tricks you can do and as I find more I will add them here. First thing I do when I sign on is go to Edit on the top of my screen and Preferences or Crtl P and open up Network and click the “Clear Cache” button. So when I crash or sign off and back on later my cache file is cleared. Keeping that empty helps.

Also Defrag as many times as you can, I try to daily. SL uses a lot of file space and if you Defrag your computer the gaps are filled in on your hard drive and SL doesn’t have to “search” to find what it needs to run properly.

Settings:

Under Prefrences:

Network- Reduce your bandwidth to like 500 or maybe less.. I cant see really how this helps.
Graphics- Keep those draw distances to 64 or just a little more.

Lower your particle count, some say to about 1500.
Set Terrain to Low
Set to Cache to 200 or a little more
Uncheck Anisotropic Filters
Uncheck VBO

Buy some RAM

You might want to remove the clouds
Crtl + Alt + D which gives you a Client Menu on the top of your screen
Scroll down to Rendering
Types
Disable the Clouds
